Resources / Vehicle comfort & crating

Make downtime comfortable

Crates, shade, airflow, bedding, and supplies for rest between searches.

Set up a place to settle.

Waiting is part of classes and trial days. Give your dog a familiar resting space, access to water, and regular opportunities to get out, stretch, and toilet. Choose equipment for your dog, your vehicle, and the weather.

Crates & bedding

Choose a crate that fits your dog and vehicle, allows comfortable rest, and has unobstructed ventilation. Follow the manufacturer’s vehicle securement instructions. Choose bedding for the weather and your dog’s habits.

Shade & airflow

Temperature awareness

Check conditions where your dog actually rests, including inside the crate. A remote monitor can add information while you remain close enough to respond, but alerts depend on the device’s power and connection.

  • Waggle · Pet temperature monitors ↗

Remote temperature monitoring and alerts. Check the model’s coverage, power requirements, and subscription costs before choosing a device.

  • Necto · Cellular temperature monitor ↗

Monitors temperature, humidity, and power status using a built-in cellular connection, with remote alerts and battery backup. No Wi-Fi required. Check cellular coverage and the included service plan and renewal costs.

Pack for the waiting, too.

  • Water & a stable bowl. Bring enough drinking water and offer it regularly.
  • Comfortable bedding & spare towels. Keep the resting surface clean and dry; adjust layers to the weather.
  • Shade attachments & charged batteries. Pack the clips, cords, and spares your equipment needs.
  • A quieter place to rest. Where the venue permits, choose parking away from heavy foot traffic. If a visual barrier helps your dog settle, keep airflow and your view of the dog clear.
  • A plan for breaks. Build in toilet walks, check-ins, and time to settle before the next search.
