Build the dog.
Read the search.
Nose Work training that develops a dog’s desire to hunt, confidence at source, and a thoughtful partnership with the handler.
The approach
Strong searches begin long before the trial.
I start with the dog: the joy of hunting, an honest understanding of odor, and the confidence to solve a problem without waiting for the handler to point the way.
From there, we build the partnership. I teach handlers to observe, give useful support, and know when the best choice is to let the dog work. Whether you are new to Nose Work or refining an advanced team, the foundations still matter.
More about my approachWhat we practice
Hunt with purpose
Build a dog who launches into the search, stays engaged, and expands when the first area is unproductive.
Work to source
Use progressive hides and reward at source so the dog learns to solve odor rather than offer a convenient answer.
Handle with intention
Learn what your movement communicates, when to give the dog room, and when to suggest a new path.
