Look for a line that is comfortable in your hand, moves easily through your fingers, and has hardware suited to your dog’s size.

BrilliantK9 ↗
Harnesses, leashes, and measuring guidance.
Video recording equipment
Reviewing a search can help you notice your dog’s behavior, your movement, and your leash handling. A phone or a friend filming is a useful starting point; a wearable camera gives you another perspective.
GoPro ↗
Action cameras with wearable and fixed-mount options. Choose a mounting angle that keeps your dog and the search area in view.
Insta360 GO series ↗
Small, wearable cameras, including the GO 3S and GO Ultra, for hands-free search video. The GO series uses a single forward-facing view rather than filming everything around you.
Ray-Ban Meta glasses ↗
Camera-equipped glasses for hands-free video from the handler’s viewpoint. Your footage follows where your head turns; check the model’s recording limits before relying on it for a full search.
Timing devices
Choose a display you can read quickly and controls you can operate without much thought. A count-up stopwatch tracks elapsed time; a countdown or interval timer can give you a reminder at a preset point.
Learning Resources · Simple Stopwatch ↗
This is the simple stopwatch I personally use. It has three straightforward buttons and is an inexpensive option available on Amazon ↗.
Gymboss ↗
I’ve used Gymboss before and liked it. Its interval timers offer preset timing with vibration or audible alerts, as well as a stopwatch function.
Optimum Time · OE Series 3 event watch ↗
An equestrian event watch with a large display and an elastic wrist strap. Offers count-up timing and a programmable countdown; minute alerts can be silenced.
Vehicle comfort & crating
Plan for the time between searches, too. Find crates and bedding, reflective shade, fans, temperature monitors, and a short packing checklist.
